The Gunners finished third in 2014-15 but the Frenchman believes the club can mount a serious assault on the Premier League next season
Arsene Wenger says Arsenal are aiming to win the Premier League this season and believes the club aren't "far away" from delivering a first title since 2004.
The Gunners finished third in 2014-15, 12 points behind eventual champions Chelsea and ended the season strongly as they lifted the FA Cup for a second consecutive year.
Arsenal have so far signed Petr Cech as they prepare for the upcoming campaign and the Frenchman feels the current squad is well-equipped to mount a serious assault on the league's summit.
"[The title] is our target and we feel we have a chance in a very competitive league. We are not far [away],” he said at a press conference.
Meanwhile, Wenger has confirmed that Yaya Sanogo will leave the club on loan this season, with Ajax closing in on securing his signature.
"He will go on loan, I believe he needs to play,” he said. “He's ready and he'll get an opportunity to play in the Champions League."
