The last meeting between these sides ended in a 1-0 win for the home side and our tipster is expecting another cagey clash when the teams meet in the Capital One Cup
Jurgen Klopp’s search for his first win since becoming Liverpool manager continues when the Reds play host to AFC Bournemouth in the last 16 of the Capital One Cup at Anfield.
Liverpool have drawn their first three matches under the stewardship of the former Borussia Dortmund boss and will be determined to get back to winning ways when they line up against the Cherries in Merseyside on Wednesday.
Klopp’s charges are warm favourites to book their place in the last eight of the competition, with bet365 offering just 9/20 (1.45) for a home win, while Eddie Howe’s side can be backed at 6/1 (7.0) to record a famous victory at Anfield.
Remarkably, all but one of Liverpool’s last nine competitive fixtures has been level at the end of 90 minutes and, should that trend continue, there could well be value in backing the stalemate at 16/5 (4.20) with bet365 here.
Bournemouth, though, may make the trip to Anfield with trepidation, having suffered back-to-back 5-1 defeats against Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur respectively in the top-flight and the Cherries’ confidence is sure to have been dented by those results - especially with several key players sidelined for the foreseeable future.
The Reds can be backed at an appealing 21/20 (2.05) with bet365 to lead at both half-time and full-time against Howe’s side, while the same firm offer 6/5 (2.20) that Liverpool (-1) win in bet365’s handicap market.
Bournemouth have kept just one clean sheet in their last eight matches in all competitions and, given that the Cherries have leaked 10 goals in their last two matches, it is somewhat unsurprising that bet365 offer just 13/20 (1.65) that three or more goals are scored at Anfield.
However, Liverpool have managed more than one goal just once in 14 competitive fixtures this season, while the hosts claimed a slender 1-0 victory over the Cherries when the two sides met in the Premier League back in August. With Christian Benteke looking set to miss this clash after suffering another injury, Klopp is short of striking options and going against goals could well be the path to profit.
Therefore, there could well be value in backing another low-scoring game when the Reds meet Howe’s men, and it is the 6/5 (2.20) quote for fewer than three goals to be scored that is the recommended play for punters ahead of this Capital One Cup clash.
